Process monitoring for rotationally symmetrical workpieces

In the production of finely machined surfaces, functional properties such as friction, gloss, adhesion, and sealing play a crucial role. Scattered light measurement technology captures these properties quickly and reliably.

The OptoShaft measuring machine was specifically developed for process monitoring during the grinding and finishing of bearing seats of gearbox and rotor shafts. Due to its extremely robust and simultaneously precise scattered light sensor, the measuring device can be used directly next to the manufacturing machine.
Especially finely finished bearing seats that rotate as needle bearings in the gearbox or motor have high requirements for surface quality. Even the smallest waviness with amplitudes < 0.05 µm leads to unacceptable noise. The cause of the waviness is chatter marks on the bearing seat, which sporadically occur during the grinding process and were not completely eliminated after finishing.
