AUKOM training courses from Mahr: Standards for a networked world

AUKOM Benefits von Mahr

For over 20 years, AUKOM e. V. has been promoting manufacturer-independent training worldwide in order to make measurement processes comparable and transparent. Mahr recognized early on that this approach would be forward-looking: the company was one of the first metrology manufacturers to rely on AUKOM seminars and has long since established itself as one of the leading providers. The training courses are an integral part of the Mahr Academy and teach internationally recognized methods of production metrology – with a practical orientation and at the highest level.

Precise measurements are the be-all and end-all in modern production technology. While uniform standards are taken for granted across countries today, different procedures, terminology and levels of training made the global transfer of knowledge difficult in the 1990s. It was not until a research project at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the founding of the association AUKOM e. V. (short for "Ausbildung Koordinatenmesstechnik") at the turn of the millennium that the foundations were laid for standardized procedures and thus for international comparability and transparency in metrology.
Since then, AUKOM has been continuously developing its manufacturer- and device-independent training programs. They create uniform measurement methods and quality standards worldwide – and not least the basis for solid cooperation between globally active customers, suppliers and partners.
"AUKOM training courses are aimed at specialists who want to deepen their expertise in production metrology," says Dr. Christoph Blum, Head of Mahr Academy and AUKOM Board Member. "The aim is to carry out and evaluate measurements in a standardized way in order to avoid misinterpretations and misunderstandings when using measuring systems." AUKOM's objective standard simplifies cooperation considerably: regardless of the measuring system, device or manufacturer used, everyone works according to the same principles and methods.

Modular training system, wide range of applications

The principle of AUKOM training courses is based on the practical transfer of knowledge and its application in the real production environment. The manufacturer-independent seminars can also be combined with manufacturer-specific device training courses. "The training courses qualify participants to carry out measurement processes efficiently and without errors. The training courses have a modular structure and cover key topics such as device calibration, dimensional and form tolerances, measurement uncertainty, sensor technology and specific test methods and standards," says Dr. Blum. Upon successful completion, participants receive an AUKOM certificate – a seal of quality recognized in the industry, which can be recognized by over 65,000 participants. It is regarded as a common denominator and forms the prerequisite for precise communication and efficient cooperation between all qualified employees and partners, even in international projects.

At Mahr, AUKOM training is an integral part of its own offering: the seminars combine the highest training quality with direct practical relevance and are in great demand. The Mahr Academy owes its good reputation not least to the positive feedback from participants. It is therefore worth securing your place in a seminar in good time.
Some of the specific advantages of attending AUKOM seminars are outlined in the AUKOM Benefits. Here you can read briefly and concisely how the knowledge gained from the seminars will help you in your daily working life.

AUKOM seminar on suitable compensation algorithms
With clearly defined algorithms, smooth processes, fewer complaints and better cooperation across all process steps can be achieved. The seminar shows how measurement results can be improved and unnecessary corrections in production can be avoided in the future. learn more

AUKOM seminar on production-related form deviations
This seminar explains why typical production processes lead to characteristic form deviations and how this knowledge can be used to improve measurement strategies and inspection planning and make processes more efficient. Learn more

AUKOM seminar on the correct choice of filters and their limit values
The targeted use of filters and their limit values can significantly improve the accuracy and comparability of measured values. The seminar shows how surface deviations and influences on production can be detected and precisely analyzed. Learn more

AUKOM seminar on form and position tolerances
The seminar provides a clear and practical introduction to the topic of form and position tolerances (GD&T) and their application. The seminar shows how correct specifications can improve cooperation along the entire process chain and reduce production errors and therefore costs. Learn more

AUKOM seminar on the interpretation of tolerances
The seminar provides practical knowledge on the reliable interpretation of form and position tolerances in accordance with the international ISO-GPS and ASME standardization systems. Different tolerancing principles such as the independence principle and the envelope principle can – depending on the application – lead to deviating measurement results. With the AUKOM traffic light system, similarities and differences between ISO-GPS and ASME can be easily and clearly identified. Learn more

AUKOM SURF seminar on surface metrology
This seminar covers modern measurement methods, relevant standards (DIN EN ISO 25178, 21920) and the correct interpretation of surface specifications. AUKOM SURF is aimed at all metrologists, designers and manufacturers who want to make informed decisions and communicate efficiently. Learn more

AUKOM seminar on clear measurement strategies
Comparable measurement results can be achieved with clearly defined and coordinated measurement strategies. The seminar shows how inspection processes can be carried out reliably, comparably and effectively through targeted analysis of the inspection task and strategic planning of clamping, probing, evaluation and documentation. Learn more

AUKOM seminar on minimizing environmental influences
Environmental influences such as temperature, dirt, moisture or vibrations can significantly distort measurements. The seminar explains how these factors can be identified, controlled and demonstrably reduced at an early stage. Learn more
